The Montessori Method
Nearly a hundred years ago in Italy, Maria Montessori developed a method of learning which was quickly and widely embraced. The Montessori approach offers a broad vision of education as an aid to life.
Maria Montessori discovered that providing the right material in a heterogeneous group of multi-age children with trained teachers leads to the development of positive self esteem, learning habits and social and intellectual competence.
Dr. Montessori observed that the years between the ages of two to six are crucial for establishing life time attitudes towards learning. The material is attractive and is placed on low shelves within easy reach of the children.
In short the Montessori Method has three main parts:
